What's an Eco-Stay?
in
Eco-Stay is a new term in the hospitality industry, indicating that environmental and ecological principles are incorporated into the hostel in four main areas:
- The construction process, materials, furniture, and decorations are mostly recycled and non-toxic or biologically safe.
- The materials used in maintenance and operations, such as cleaning agents, laundry detergents, paper products, and other supplies are non-toxic, biodegradable, and recycled or recyclable.
- The food and other purchasable products available to guests adhere to environmental concepts that promote the health of people and the health of our planet.
- The hostel provides an environment that fosters a thriving community, healthy creativity, ecological activism, and friendly education about the principles of sustainability, with the general purpose of helping the guests and visitors promote sustainable living in their places of origin, plus creating a sustainability-oriented ripple effect within the hostel's community itself.
